As it should be!

I’ve always said that exit poll data should not be released as soon as it always is - because I firmly believe that the release of exit poll data so soon in the election process can influence voters who haven’t yet voted.

From the NY Post:

Exit-poll data will be under lock and key Election Day to help networks avoid the Bush-Gore debacle of 2000 - and prevent bloggers from trumpeting results before the polls close.

Amen to that!

It’s more of a race between themselves - because it doesn’t really matter to any of us. Does it matter to you?

The hunger for such information is so great. The race between the networks on who can break the latest and greatest numbers has grown into such a frenzy - mistakes are made. It brings even the most seasoned news providers to drool and slobber over the prosect that they would be the FIRST to annouce the winner!

And really, at the end of the day - when the votes are all counted.. do any of us out here really care if it was CNN, FOX, NBC or whoever? Does it really matter to YOU which network was the first to announce? At the end of the day - you and I are either dancing in the streets, or crying in our beer - - and the very last thing on our minds is the network who uttered those words 5 seconds before their competition did.
